Microsoft 365 Security

Microsoft Entra ID Identity & Access Management

Secure access starts with identity.

Your employees no longer work from one office, one network or one device. They reach Microsoft 365, cloud apps and company data from laptops, phones, home offices and the road. That makes identity one of the most important layers of your cybersecurity.

TCI Technologies configures and manages Microsoft Entra ID to strengthen identity security, control access and reduce the risk of compromised accounts. Secure your users. Control access. Protect your business.

What is two factor authentication

What Is Microsoft Entra ID?

Microsoft Entra ID, formerly Azure Active Directory, is Microsoft’s cloud identity and access management platform. It’s the identity foundation that controls access to Microsoft 365 and other connected business applications.

For Microsoft 365 businesses, Entra ID shouldn’t be seen as just the place usernames and passwords live. It should be a central part of your cybersecurity strategy.

What TCI Manages With Microsoft Entra ID

Multi-Factor Authentication

Passwords alone aren’t enough. MFA adds a second layer of verification at sign-in, greatly reducing the risk from stolen or compromised passwords.

Conditional Access

Not every sign-in should get the same access. We design policies around how your team really works, based on:

UserApplicationDeviceLocationSign-in conditionsAuthentication strength

The goal: let legitimate employees work, while making unauthorized access far more difficult.

Identity & Access Management

As people join, change roles or leave, their access should change with them. We bring consistency to access for:

New employeesCurrent employeesDeparting employeesAdministratorsRemote workersContractorsVendors & guests

The right person. The right access. The right time.

Privileged Access

Protect Administrator Accounts

A compromised Microsoft 365 administrator account can do far more damage than a standard user account. TCI reviews how administrative access is structured and builds stronger controls around privileged accounts, including:

  • ✓Global Administrator access
  • ✓Dedicated administrator accounts
  • ✓Multi-factor authentication
  • ✓Conditional access
  • ✓Privileged access controls
  • ✓Emergency access planning
  • ✓Administrator role assignments

Build Security Around Identity, Not Just the Office

Employees now work from the office, home, client sites, hotels, airports and mobile devices. Instead of trusting someone because they’re on a particular network, you need to know who they are, what they’re accessing and whether the access meets your requirements. With Entra ID and conditional access, you can set different rules for different situations:

Administrators

Stronger authentication and tighter access policies.

Employees

Secure access based on your security requirements.

Unmanaged Devices

Limit how company data is accessed from devices you don’t manage.

Guests & Vendors

Access only to the resources they actually need.

High-Risk Sign-Ins

Extra controls when sign-in conditions suggest risk.

What matters isn’t just turning features on. It’s designing policies around your organization’s actual security needs.

Entra ID + Intune + Microsoft Defender

Identity security is even stronger when it works with device management and threat protection, so company data isn’t protected by passwords alone.

Microsoft Entra ID

Who is requesting access?

Controls identity, authentication and access.

Microsoft Intune

Is the device trusted and managed?

Manages devices and enforces company policies.

Microsoft Defender

Is there suspicious activity?

Helps identify, investigate and respond to threats.

Microsoft 365

What is the user accessing?

The business information and services being protected.

Together, they form the foundation of TCI’s Microsoft 365 security strategy.

How TCI Implements Microsoft Entra ID

1

Assess

We review your Microsoft 365 environment, users, administrators, devices, sign-in methods, licenses and security settings to find gaps.

2

Design

We build an identity and access strategy for employees, administrators, mobile and remote users, contractors, guests, and managed and unmanaged devices.

3

Configure

We set up identity, authentication and access policies, improving security without getting in employees’ way.

4

Deploy

We roll out policies in a controlled way, with testing and clear communication, rather than sweeping changes all at once.

5

Manage & Improve

Identity changes whenever you hire, part ways with staff, add apps, devices, locations or vendors, or change licensing, so we keep reviewing it.

Is Your Microsoft 365 Identity Environment Secure?

Use this checklist to see where you stand. TCI’s Microsoft 365 Identity & Access Assessment answers each question for you.

Identity

  • Are all appropriate users protected with MFA?
  • Are inactive accounts reviewed?
  • Is guest access controlled?
  • Are offboarding procedures in place?

Administrative Access

  • Who has Global Administrator access?
  • Are admin accounts properly protected?
  • Are admin roles reviewed?
  • Are emergency access procedures documented?

Conditional Access

  • Are conditional access policies configured?
  • Are remote access requirements defined?
  • Are unmanaged devices addressed?
  • Are authentication requirements set?

Devices

  • Are company devices enrolled in Intune?
  • Are personal devices treated differently?
  • Do access policies align with device policies?

Response

  • Who investigates suspicious sign-ins?
  • What happens when an account is compromised?
  • Who disables access during an incident?
  • Is there a documented response process?

MFA Is the Beginning, Not the Entire Strategy

Turning on MFA is an important step, but a modern identity strategy brings several pieces together:

Authentication+Access+Devices+Privileges+Monitoring+Response

Licensing

Entra ID + Microsoft 365 Business Premium

The question isn’t just “Do we have Microsoft 365?” It’s “Are we using the security capabilities we’re already paying for?”

Microsoft’s identity and security features vary by subscription and add-on. For example, conditional access requires Entra ID P1, which is included in Microsoft 365 Business Premium. TCI reviews your current licensing before recommending an identity security architecture. See Business Premium & Defender.
